Welcome to the September 14, 2008 edition of Real Estate Market Reports. We have an excellent consolidation of real estate reports from around the country (and one from BC!). Whether discovering what the local real estate agents are seeing in the market or finding out that Warren Buffett is moving strongly into the real estate brokerage business, this edition has something for everyone.

Marie Westerman presents Relocation Packet for Augusta Georgia posted at Marie Westerman’s Ft Gordon Augusta GA and the CSRA Real Estate Blog, saying, “The Plant Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant located in Waynesboro Georgia and Fort Gordon Military facility located in Augusta Georgia. Both facilities are growing due to the building of the new Homeland Security Center at Fort Gordon, Augusta Georgia. Plant Vogtle is also adding additional reactors which will allow extensive growth over the next ten years in the Burke County Waynesboro Georgia Area.”

Bob Schwartz presents The San Diego California Real Estate Great Depression posted at San Diego real estate, saying, “Condominium value drops over the last two years in San Diego CA.”

Joe Manausa presents The Sign Is Up - Is Your Home Sold? posted at Tallahassee Real Estate Blog, saying, “During the booming real estate market of 2004-2006, it seemed all a homeowner had to do to sell a home was put a sign in the yard and then start evaluating offers. This is not so much the case anymore, we are back to a “normal” real estate market, where buyers are drawn to value.”

CMHC is forecasting around a 3% gain for house prices for 2008 in Saanich Pensinsula ( includes N. Saanich, Sidney and Central Saanich) area of Victoria.”

The impact on lender willingness and ability to process short sales is expected to cause short sales to surge.”
