The Wall of Random Kool. The KJA team discovered this little nugget at a design conference, and made it our own. It started as a sort of internal bulletin board, covered in myriad bits and pieces which poked at the interesting, energizing, quirky and yes, cool wrinkles in our brains. Then it evolved. Now this precious wall real estate showcases the creative fancies of our designers. Here’s what’s really fun, it’s not just for KJA to experience. Yes, it’s a way for our team to boost creativity.

The traffic from the summer visitors starts tapering as school sessions begin. The visitor we see in the fall traditionally are “baby boomers” looking to enjoy some time on the Island. Some of these baby boomers are heading down the east coast and up the west coast of Florida researching possible retirement or 2nd home locations.Needless to say, the fall months are our second largest season for selling.

O ne of the best ways to keep tabs on real estate in Tallahassee is through monitoring our Market Bulletin. This site is updated multiple times each week and contains charts, graphs, and analysis of the real estate market in Tallahassee . As I was updating the Tallahassee Real Estate Web Site this morning, I realized we hadn’t used these graphs in our blog for quite some time, so today is an updated review of the current housing market conditions in Tallahassee.

For some time, Fannie Mae considered the income of a transferred employee’s spouse to qualify the couple for a larger mortgage even if they had not yet found a job. Given the tough job market, Fannie Mae has changed this policy so that income from a “trailing spouse” will not be considered in loan qualification unless a job has been secured and income has been verified.

You all know that real estate investing is not in any list of high school curricular . In fact, you can?t get an accredited degree in real estate investing. You won?t find a high school or college guidance counselor who recommends a career in real estate investing (if the instructor understood real estate investing, he or she probably wouldn?t be a guidance counselor!). Both public and private school system and educational curriculum in many countries is only a frail attempt to prepare students to just “get a job”.

With property costs plausibly rising and rising quickly in Tampa, there is a lot of talk about an estate bubble in the USA and dire predictions the supposed bubble could burst, leading to a dearth of confidence on the part of backers and folks looking for a 2nd home. But while this talk about a bubble could be true in some pieces of America, it’s not justified in Florida, particularly in the Tampa Bay and Clearwater areas. Florida as a full is enjoying a rise in property costs which guarantees to be a long term trend.

Most Sundays, either Cerise sleeps over at my house in Great Falls, Virginia, or we spend Saturday night at her place and go out for brunch somewhere swanky in the morning. But this week, she’s away on vacation, traveling with friends to Chincoteague Island for the annual pony roundup festival. Chincoteague is, of course, the place made famous by Marguerite Henry’s 1947 Misty of Chincoteague.

I’m at Starbucks eating a Greek Yogurt & Honey Parfait, which has me thinking of Greece, of course. One more “must” for the ever-growing life list, which also includes scarfing steaks in Argentina , rijsttafel in Indonesia, and olive oil in Italy. Happily, my husband, Rick, and I have finally queued up Italy for a visit next fall. Unhappily, our Italy-loving friends Jim and Jackie will likely not be joining us, despite our plying them with cheap vino and fresh mozzarella/tomato canapés last night; the economy continues to stink and Jim’s in real estate development.

It’s August now. Which means 21 days until school starts (but who’s counting?) and it’s time for me to start watching our weather forecast every night. Why? Because the peak of hurricane season is coming up, folks! Like a good Floridian, I went over to the NOAA website today. And found this graphic waiting for me: Which frankly? Made me a little sad. You see, Floridians have a sick relationship with hurricane season: We love it. We loathe it. We threaten to move away from it. Yet we crave it .
