Forest Lake, Minnesota is well known throughout the Twin Cities area. It was a favorite summer vacation spot, an annual ice fishing tournament tradition or as a destination when going for a Sunday a drive in the country in days gone by. Today, the lakeside cabins have been replaced with year round residences, the fishing tourney is but a memory and the farm s are few and far between in this third ring St. Paul suburb.
Gov’t and Economic Interests as Bedfellowsaleksandreia.wordpress.com

If you were a recent college graduate in a recovering economy launching a career, looking for a mate or both, where would you choose to live? Predicting cities that will emerge as post-recession meccas for the young is easy to argue about, but impossible to forecast empirically. Whether you prefer hip, casual Austin, Texas, over the cosmopolitan allure of New York City is partly a matter of personal taste. Still, we asked six experts which 10 cities will emerge as the hottest, hippest destinations for highly mobile, educated workers in their 20s when the U.S.

~~~ V-SHAPED RECOVERY VERSUS SECULAR AND CYCLICAL HEADWINDS Growing up in Chicago, I looked forward to every baseball season, and I cheered for both the White Sox and Cubs, since neither team won that much. I never saw the point in being choosey. The GO-Go White Sox went to the World Series in 1959, before winning it 46 years later in 2005, and 88 years after winning in 1917. The Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908, and that 100 year streak appears safe in 2009.
Roger Penske, who had been seen as the guy who could save Saturn and turn around the company’s fortunes after GM destroyed the brand’s value, has withdrawn his bid to buy the company. Saturn will wind down its business after opening with such fanfare and hopes in 1985. Saturn’s 350 dealerships across the United States will close because of the development. The Saturn stores are known for their no-haggle, low-pressure sales approach and focus on customer service. None of the stores sells vehicles made by another G.M.
Birmingham’s office market, like others across the UK, is currently in the grip of a prolonged slump. Things are not likely to look up just yet, as BNP Paribas’ report on the West Midlands real estate market indicates rentals will continue their downward trend for some more time, until 2011. Stability will reach the market in that year, and a steady rise is expected thereafter. Retail rentals are likely to follow the same pattern more or less, says the report.
Look out below! I warned yesterday that the end of the quarter may well mark the end of Goldman and their Gang of 12’s Global pump job and what better way to pull the rug out from under the markets then for Goldman Sachs themselves to issue a report that warns that REIT valuation seem ” stretched ” and they are projecting ” flat to down 15% returns next year ” with concerns that they are ” just beginning what could be a multi-year down-cycle .” Other headlined charts (and Zero-Hedge has the full scoop ) are: Still a long road ahead for a recovery in credit.
Bob Chapman The International Forecaster October 1, 2009 Nearly half the nation’s 25 biggest retail chains expect to hire fewer holiday workers this season than they did last year, another sign that retailers aren’t counting on recession-strained shoppers to relax the tight grip on their pocketbooks this year. by Mike Swanson Gold is the most popular investment in the world, and has been for centuries. The reasons to invest in gold and gold stock picks are quite straightforward. In any type of crisis, gold will usually keep its value, where all else has lost its value. For example, in times of war, money or currency is worth almost nothing. Even real estate, which is a pretty solid investment, loses out in political unrest, war or any other instability that may arise. But, gold is a solid investment all around.
The fact is a property with a bad location won’t fetch you a good price even if the market is bullish. If you are interested in buying property then make sure that the property is suitably located. It should be in the vicinity of shopping complexes, malls, hospices, faculties parks and will be easily reached by road and mass transit systems.
The most dreadful situation in the economy has caused a lot of appalling difficulties. People are unable to live as they were used to as there are a lot of financial troubles. Some have lost their jobs because of redundancy, others encountered troubles connected with unpredicted expenses. The mast dreadful is situation on the real estate market. Homeowners cannot afford to keep the houses they have been living for a long time.
Is your Realtor a Bully?miamism.com
Do you know if the Miami Realtor you hired is a bully?  Have you even thought that this could be possible?  Maybe you are aware of it and think it could be advantageous “if they are bullies, it could mean that they will know how to negotiate a deal and work for my best interest!” – think again Realtor Bullies only care about themselves, their bottom dollar, how much inventory they have and what their quotas are.  They don’t care about you and your property, quite the contrary, they will guide traffic to other listings of theirs if they think it will benefit them more.  They won’t care about business ethic and they will put up quite a front.
So, you want to launder some money?  I’ve written about this before, but the game is changing rapidly.  No longer are Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Guernsey the safe havens they once were.  In fact, don’t even think about utilizing banks in those countries for shady transactions. The reality of the situation is that blatant money laundering is simply too risky these days.  Forget what you see in the movies.  These aren’t the days of cocaine cowboys in 1980s Miami anymore.  You’ve got to up your game.
During the recent Hawaii real estate boom years I worked as a developer sales agent for the oceanfront Kolea and Hali’i Kai communities on the Kohala Coast. That’s why “ The Coulda Shoulda Club of 2009 “, a blog post title on my ActiveRain network , made me laugh out loud.  How many times did someone come in “just to look” and shake their head at prices, declaring how they had been coming to the Big Island for 30 years, and coulda-shoulda bought a $3 million lot at Puako on the beachfront side for under $100,000 (yes, if you click through to look at the lot, their story is true).
RISMEDIA, October 1, 2009—It’s clear there are many more foreclosures in the real estate market’s future and we don’t need a fortune-teller to enlighten us  on that score. What we do need, however, is to know the level of foreclosures being forecast over the next few years, as this will likely be a crucial component for strategic business and life planning activities.  Fortunately, rather than having to engage a fortune-teller, we can use a report  compiled by The Center for Responsible Lending, which projects foreclosures over the next four years and their impact by state.
Dubai – New Jack Emirate By Raymond Barrett for The Velvet Rocket October 2009 A key to understanding the history of Dubai’s seamy underbelly. The wooden dhows docked along the Dubai Creek sail trade routes that are centuries old, connecting this small city-state on the Persian Gulf with the outside world. But the boats have served a double purpose in Dubai’s history. A symbol of Dubai’s vibrant shipping industry, the dhows have also been used by generations of smugglers exploiting Dubai’s strategic position between East and West to move contraband back and forth across the Arabian Sea.
Barrick and its OTC Short of Gold Derivative Obligations: I am asked constantly how Barrick can cover all their hedges. The answer is quite simple. Barrick does not have to buy one ounce of gold. You buy your way out of hedge contracts with paper money. The simple question is what does the long side want to release the obligation in light of future possible profits on the position? What a hell of a needlessly expensive mess.
Combined with falling home supplies and rising sales figures , this month’s Case-Shiller Index suggests that housing may have bottomed sometime earlier this year. It’s cause for optimism. Even Case-Shiller respresentatives seem excited.  In its press release , the publishers singled out the index’s winning streak, commenting on the recent “stabilization in national real estate values”.
Paul Volcker was the Federal Reserve chairman back in the early 1980s.  He had been appointed by President Jimmy Carter in 1979.  His task was to squelch inflation and that he did by sharply hiking short-term interest rates.  Unfortunately, the economy took a huge hit as a result of his inflation-fighting efforts, but he did kill off inflation for a generation.  That feat alone gives him enormous credibility in terms of our banking and monetary system.
    To Our Clients, Colleagues and Friends, What would be better, (a) having one $40 million warehouse line with Bank of America, or (b) having $25 million with the Bank of America and $10 million with Comerica or Flagstar?  Even though (a) is for $40 million and (b) is for only $35 million, we’d probably recommend option (b).  Having two lines is almost always better than having just one, even if the one line is somewhat bigger than the two combined.
  Powered by Max Banner Ads   by Arnulfo Snider When the value of your home is less than the amount that you owe on your loan, you should consider a short sale. For the sake of argument we’ll say that your home is worth 350,000 and you owe 360,000 then a short sale would be a good option to pursue. However, if you don’t have to immediately sell your home then you could always wait and see what happens in the real estate market. However, if you do have to sell your home you basically have three options.
