Lee County in Florida is pushing to put their foreclosure sales on EBAY by the beginning of 2010 according to news-press.com in hopes of alleviating some of the massive crowds that have been gathering at the justice center. Pretty soon the entire world will be able to bid on foreclosures in Lee County and how can that be bad? You’re opening up a huge pool of buyers that was not available before and consumers are already comfortable using EBAY.

In scouring the foreclosure news this morning, I didn’t come up empty-handed. According to Reuters , “Every 13 seconds in America, there is another foreclosure filing.” It almost sounds like the intro to one of those public service announcements. A point from the article worth noting: A recent pickup in sales and home prices in some regions has been heralded as a sign that the crisis in residential real estate may be close to bottoming out, after the steepest price decline since at least 1890.

RISMEDIA, October 9, 2009—Home buyers in much of the U.S. are still paying thousands of dollars below the home’s asking price, but had slightly less negotiating power in August 2009 than they did in July, according to the August Zillow Real Estate Market Reports. Buyers paid a median $6,525, or 3% less than the last listing price on homes bought in August, down from $7,018, or 3.3%, less for homes bought in July. Negotiating power peaked in January 2009, when buyers were paying 4.5% less than last listing price, a median of $10,096.

The current economic malaise has hit Connecticut as well, but there is no danger of oversupply in the state; inventory levels have been consistent, probably because Connecticut housing has not been subjected to the amount of speculative investment that other places have experienced, such as Florida or Nevada. Connecticut maintains its generally pro-business policies and there is no danger of an exodus among commercial tenants, either.

An escrow account is a designated savings account into which funds get deposited for a specific purpose.
