Medina has had just a handful of home sales recorded on the NWMLS in the past couple of months.  Ranging from half a million to over $3 million, these sales really show the range of Medina’s homes.  From simple, mid-century ramblers to towering waterfront mansions, Medina is really a picture of the old and new Seattle.  Many families have lived here for 50 years and watched the change from working-class, logger Seattle to high-tech, latte-sipping Seattle.

Oct. 28, 2009 – WASHINGTON – Sales of new homes dropped unexpectedly last month as the effects of a temporary tax credit for first-time owners started to wane.The Commerce Department said Wednesday that sales fell 3.6 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 402,000 from a downwardly revised 417,000 in August. Economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters had expected a pace of 440,000.It was the first decline since March. Sales in September were off 7.8 percent from a year ago.

USD: The USD scored a big gain against the EUR on Wednesday, traded within range against the GBP, and lost a bit of ground to the JPY. GDP Q3 – Advance show GDP expanded by 3.5%, better than the expected 3.2% expansion by analysts, ending a 4-quarter streak of consecutive contraction of GDP.  In the 2nd quarter, GPD  contracted by 0.7%, after contracting by 6.4% in the first quarter of 2009.  The increase in real GDP in the third quarter primarily reflected improvements in personal consumption expenditures (PCE), exports , private inventory investment, federal government spending, and residential fixed investment.

Strongest selling since the rally started in March. What does it mean? Investors are not confident in the outlook for growth. The data is mixed, but the key points show weakness is still apparent in the economy. Manufacturing shows no build up in inventory, in fact they are low and that isn’t good for future growth.
