By Dees Stribling, Contributing EditorOctober 21, 2009 – The U.S. housing market might not be quite as deathly ill as it was a year ago, but no one is suggesting–to stretch the health metaphor–that it will get up and run a marathon any time soon. In fact, the industry is wheezing and gasping a little at the thought of the looming expiration of the $8,000 first-timer tax credit, so plans have been hatched in Congress to keep the credit in place. Thus far, about 1.8 million homebuyers have taken advantage of the credit, according estimates by the National Association of Realtors.

I have even been accused of “bashing” the Piney Z Subdivision (as if I hold a grudge against a community???). Certainly, that is not the case. Piney Z is a very desirable neighborhood located in Northeast Tallahassee, with home prices about 20% above the median for our county. I try to do regularly updates for many of the more active neighborhoods in Tallahassee, and Piney Z falls into this category.

Let’s say you want to do consumer credit repair. Lenders will be looking at five areas. Those factors all start with C: character, capacity, capital, collateral and conditions. Character Lenders need to know how well they can trust you. That’s what they mean by character. A personal relationship with a lender is great. Otherwise it’s usually up to your credit report. Late payments don’t show good character for example. Your credit report will show 30, 60 and 90 day delinquencies.
